“Of Stars and Clay”

Earth Sentinels II ebook cover-v2

“Elizabeth M. Herrera has created an amazing work — one that should be in the hands of every human on Earth who cares about this planet.” — Dr. Stewart A. Swerdlow, Grand Prior of New Templar Order

An engineered virus kills most of mankind. Those who survive are controlled from behind the scenes by a dark force that has waited millenniums for global domination. Gone are our scientists, leaders, military commanders, teachers, engineers, parents and children—the only ones left standing are those useful to the agenda.

To maintain order, the United Nations organization dutifully steps in, but its leaders are not what they appear to be. The trusted UN uniform causes each country’s army to hand over its leash. All of the world’s soldiers follow the commands of the New World Order without a single shot being fired. The devious plan unfolds perfectly—with one exception.

The virus brings about an unexpected DNA mutation among a handful of Earth Sentinels, causing them to develop supernatural abilities. Those impacted are: Zachary Thompson, a young American adapting to the Amazon Jungle alongside his indigenous wife and children; Haruto, a Miko in Japan, who lives with her lover, Billy White Smoke; and Tom Running Deer and Cecile Two Feathers, rebellious Native Americans who reside on a reservation in Canada. While their transformative changes unfold, Bechard the fallen angel tries to regroup his fellow Earth Sentinels so they can save mankind.

During their perilous mission, the Earth Sentinels uncover secrets about mankind’s origins, ancient astronauts, genetic engineering, the Illuminati, and the lies that have been woven throughout religion and history.

“Dreams of Heaven” receives Readers’ Favorite Award

Dreams of Heaven Cover-ebookReviewed by Romuald Dzemo for Readers’ Favorite

Dreams of Heaven by Elizabeth M. Herrera is an inspirational book that tells a brilliant and heartwarming story, while reflecting on the mysteries of life, love, faith, death, and eternity. Meet Savannah Watkins, a woman just like any other, except that she has very unusual dreams. The recurrent dreams are about the loss of her family in a car accident, so she is caught between the reality of her waking and the trauma of her sleep. As she struggles for answers, Jesus appears and offers to guide her, spending long moments with her along the beach and at the grocer’s. In this sudden yet enlivening contact with the Divine, Watkins discovers the depths of Jesus’ teachings and the answers to the pain of loss that most of us experience at some time in our life.

Reader's-Favorite-5star-Review-logo-200This is an exciting book, filled with wisdom and insight, a story that is both entertaining and inspiring. It starts in the middle of action and the pace picks up from there. It is fast and gripping and I enjoyed how the author managed to keep readers’ curiosity awake and strong through each page of the narrative. Readers will identify with Watkins, a character who is symbolic in that she represents the fears and uncertainties of most readers, living through the desert of faith until the encounter with Jesus. Elizabeth Herrera is a good writer and she has the gift of getting her message across through her storytelling craft. Dreams of Heaven will awaken a new sense of reality in the hearts of readers and the dream of what makes life worth living.

Review for New Release “Dreams of Heaven” by Elizabeth M. Herrera

Blog - Blue Gator Book Design

Simply Beautiful

DOH-9780990349235-Perfect.inddDreams Of Heaven by Elizabeth Herrera is an absolutely beautiful Christian fantasy novel, that really ‘spoke’ to my heart.

The novel has Jesus at the centre. He is always with us. There is nothing in this life (or death) that we ever have to face without Him. He will always support us, carry us and love us. He is the embodiment of love.

The love just radiates from the story. The love of a mother for her family and her love for Jesus. This love extends to the reader. I felt myself awash with love and with peace.

Dreams Of Heaven is simply beautiful. It will soothe your soul. It will speak to your heart. It will fill you with hope. In its simplicity, Dreams Of Heaven penetrates your very being. I loved it.

Refresh your life and read Dreams Of Heaven today.

Dreams of Heaven is now available!

DOH-9780990349235-Perfect.indd

Dreams of Heaven has released! The story was inspired by a vivid dream where Jesus appeared and showed me four scenes. When I woke up that morning, I knew I would write the story. I remember thinking “how odd”, because I had only written one book in my life, a memoir titled Shaman Stone Soup, which I had assumed would be my one and only, but now, I felt I had been given my next “assignment”.

So I sat at my computer and waited for inspiration, then I wrote whatever came to me. It was an interesting process, because I had no idea how the scenes in my dream would connect, and I couldn’t fathom an ending that would make the two realities, which the main character was facing, come together. But it did.

In Dreams of Heaven, Savannah Watkins is haunted by a dream of losing her family in a tragic car accident, which causes her to vacillate between two lives—before and after the car accident. As she struggles between realities, Jesus Christ suddenly appears to offer her unorthodox guidance. He accompanies her to the grocery store and for walks on the beach while answering some of life’s toughest questions.

I invite you to read Dreams of Heaven. It’s a magical ride with an inspirational message. Book is on sale until August 20th.

Pen Name Changed to Elizabeth M. Herrera

All Book Covers

Dear readers,

I have decided to change my pen name to Elizabeth M. Herrera. I can’t give you a definitive reason, other than it feels right at this time. I love the practice of shamanism, and felt proud to use the title “Shaman” in my pen name—it was a gift from the spirits that I honored. But I’ve come to realize that I can accept this gift without an outward display.

Using my real name seems more raw. More open. Less focused on a specific modality and more focused on an individual path where I simply listen to my heart.

I plan to write more books—as usual with either an overt or subtle spiritual theme. I hope you join me on this journey. It’s a lot more interesting when we do it together.

Blessed journeys,

Elizabeth M. Herrera

Shaman Stone Soup

For those who love audiobooks, you can now listen to Shaman Stone Soup. The book has received glowing reviews from most readers. Some have even claimed the book is life-changing and brought miracles with it.

Shaman Stone Soup takes you on the journey of an atheist who discovers Native American spirituality and becomes a healer for friends, family and clients. The author shares her personal stories that demonstrate how spirit guides, angels and enlightened beings can answer calls for help through miracles. You will read about the matronly ghost who overstayed her welcome, the spirits of ancient wise men who offered advice and a miraculous cure from cancer for a friend, the man who got out of his wheelchair to go hunting and fishing, a vivid dream and later chance meeting of a pastor who had asked God for a sign, the metamorphosis of a schizophrenic, the loving afterlife contact from her mother who died unexpectedly, and other short stories. The book makes a great gift.

“Dreams of Heaven” Novella — Christian, New Age or Beyond Labels?

Dreams of Heaven Cover-ebook

The inspiration for Dreams of Heaven came to me in a vivid dream. As a healer, I’ve learned to pay attention to vivid dreams, which are a rare occurrence, but always offer profound answers and insights. In this particular dream, Jesus Christ appeared and showed me four scenes. I knew when I awoke that I would write Dreams of Heaven. But why feature Jesus Christ? I’m not Christian. Although I do confess that Jesus is always a part of my shamanic healings (shamanism is a Native American practice) where he appears as a spirit guide. I suppose a Christian would say that Jesus comes to me in a focused prayer, but alas, enough with the labels.

So, one month after the dream and during a winter holiday break, I began to write. But how do you write a story that is not your own? I had no idea how the dream’s scenes would come together or how the story would end. In fact, I couldn’t even conceive of a good ending.

During the writing process, I sat quietly before each session and prayed for inspiration, then typed whatever came to me. (It soon became obvious that it was also a lesson in learning to listen to the Divine Voice, and releasing the fears that prevented me from publically stating unorthodox teachings.)  The story began to weave itself between two realities. In one, a dream of a car accident haunts the main character, Savannah Watson. In the other, she deals with the tragic aftermath. As Savannah struggles with the prophetic dream, Jesus appears and speaks to her. He goes grocery shopping with her, and for walks on the beach, answering her questions (even if she doesn’t always think so).

Unlike many novels and movies that offer generic and vague answers, in Dreams of Heaven, Jesus offers specific messages — but they are given through the interpretation of love, leaving fear and judgement at the door. Messages that many Christians would say dispute the Bible’s teachings, but do they?

The church has offered an interpretation for millenniums, but interpretations can vary. Who is right? I’m not sure it matters. We all have a path to follow, and we choose the one that is right for us. At one time, Christianity was right for me. However, in my early 20s, I lost my faith for a decade before my belief in God and Jesus returned, but without the religious connotations. God without religion? What a novel idea (no pun intended). Which means, this book’s message isn’t right for everyone. But for those looking for answers about redemption without judgement or condemnation, this book is just right.

Reviews

Dreams of Heaven compels you to examine your beliefs about life and death. You will be drawn to read every page.” —Reverend Emile Gauvreau, Center for Spiritual Living Cape Coral

Dreams of Heaven is a beautifully crafted story that centers on the dream/reality of a terrible family tragedy and the main character’s sudden ability to see and converse with Jesus Christ. Heartfelt and deeply moving, the book is like an epiphanous dream probing the mysteries of birth, life, and death. It is one of those gems of spiritual literature that becomes a permanent fixture in our lives, always remembered as a gift for that special friend with whom we wish to share our most deeply felt beliefs.” — Hal Zina Bennett, Ph.D., Best-selling Author of Write From the Heart and Follow Your Bliss

Pre-order the Novel “Of Stars and Clay” by Shaman Elizabeth Herrera

Of-Stars-and-Clay-cover-ebook-2

Of Stars and Clay by Shaman Elizabeth Herrera is a Science Fiction / Contemporary Fantasy novel that begins with strange plane trails being sprayed across the skies, releasing a pandemic virus. Those who survive are controlled from behind the scenes by a dark force that has waited millenniums for total domination. Gone are our scientists, leaders, military commanders, teachers, engineers, parents and children—the only ones left standing are those useful to the agenda.

To maintain order, the United Nations organization dutifully steps in, but its leaders are not what they appear to be. The trusted UN uniform causes each army to hand over its leash, resulting in all of the world’s soldiers following the command of an unknown power—without a single shot being fired. The plan unfolds perfectly, except for one exception.

The virus brings about an unexpected DNA mutation among the Earth Sentinels, causing a select few to develop supernatural abilities, such as, Zachary, a young man who is struggling to adapt to the Amazon Jungle while living with his indigenous wife and family; Haruto, a healer in Japan, who endeavors to lead a spiritual life; and Tom and Cecile, rebellious Native Americans who reside on a reservation in Canada. While their transformative changes unfold, Bechard the fallen angel tries to regroup his fellow Earth Sentinels so they can free the human race from its unseen shackles. But they face a dilemma. How do you free people who don’t know they are slaves and continue to work on behalf of the aliens?

The adventure unfolds in romantic remote locations that offer glimpses into indigenous cultures. The main characters risk losing everything as they race against time to discover their own supernatural powers that might allow them to save mankind, but the Dark Ones are working hard against them.

The author has laid a solid foundation in Of Stars and Clay. And if one is open to the idea of aliens, you have stumbled upon the well-guarded secrets that provide the answer to mankind’s missing link.

Of Stars and Clay is a clever and jarring novel with much of the story based on the commonly held conspiracy theories, such as the Grays, reptilian Dracos, fallen angels, chemtrails, blue bloods, and others.

Shaman Elizabeth Herrera’s fourth book is a unique story written for those who dare to leap down the rabbit hole. It’s the second book in the Earth Sentinels series, but the story stands on it own.

Earth Sentinels: The Storm Creators

Earth Sentinels: The Storm Creators

American principalities, such as Seattle, Minneapolis and Berkeley, have set the precedence to replace Columbus Day with Indigenous People’s Day. More and more communities are acknowledging the devastation inflicted on at least 118 million indigenous North Americans with some estimates being as high as 145 million people killed. In recognition of Indigenous People’s Day, the eBook Earth Sentinels: The Storm Creators by Shaman Elizabeth Herrera is on sale for 99¢, October 12-15. This fictional story “reads as a non-fictional account of the spiritual side of the indigenous people and the problems facing our world today. A must read!” says Dennis Nighthawk, healer, spiritual leader and tribe member of the White Laurel Band of Cherokee. Lonny Hall, tribe member of Kon Kow Valley Band of Maidu, stated, Earth Sentinels is gripping, takes the reader hostage, and educates on the cultural similarities and differences of spiritual leaders from all over the world.”

Shaman Elizabeth incorporates many of her own experiences into Earth Sentinels, which offers insights into current environmental concerns and historical indigenous injustices woven into an epic adventure.

Laine Cunningham, award-winning author, said, “This is one of those books that’s going to stand alongside classics. Drawing from Native American wisdom and the beliefs of a world filled with respect for nature and its spiritual elements, Herrera has created a global book of wisdom for a global world.”

Learn to Shamanic Journey Workshop

drumIf you’re interested in Native American spirituality and shamanic journeying, consider attending an upcoming workshop facilitated by Shaman Elizabeth Herrera. Shamanic journeying bridges the gap between this world and the spirit realm, allowing you to communicate with the Divine. Through this connection, you begin to heal yourself and others.

The workshop is aimed at the novice, but many people who are experienced in shamanic journeying come to refresh their skills and enjoy the presence of other like-minded individuals.

Here is a brief overview of shamanic journeying:

During a shamanic journey, a person utilizes a visionary process to travel to the spirit realm to request healings, receive Divine messages, and commune with nature and the universe.

In the spirit realm, a person can interact with spirit guides, ancestors, spirits of people from this world and enlightened beings. During this workshop, you will discover your Power Animal, who acts as protector and guide through the spirit realm and can be a part of your spiritual journey for a lifetime or a brief period during which their archetype power is needed most.

Shamanic journeying is a natural gift that everyone can accomplish on some level, although group dynamics make it easier to experience more vivid journeys.

Saturday, April 18, 2015 • 9:30-5 pm EST • $75 (includes lunch). This price is half of the normal rate and is being offered as a “give-back” to people, who might not otherwise be able to afford it.

ABOUT THE TEACHER: Shaman Elizabeth Herrera is a healer, poet, activist and storyteller, who writes life-changing books and screenplays.

Elizabeth was raised in a Christian home, but lost her faith in her early twenties. For over a decade, she searched for something to fill the void, eventually discovering Native American spirituality. Through this spiritual practice, she unexpectedly became a catalyst for healing and miracles. These events led her back to a belief in a higher power.

Always drawn to the spiritual side of life, Elizabeth began her shamanic path in Michigan where she learned to shamanic journey with Stephanie Tighe (a certified Sandra Ingerman instructor). Elizabeth continued her studies through the Foundation for Shamanic Studies for shamanic journeying, soul retrieval, and death and dying (psychopomp), but her major source of learning has been from her spirit guides, who offer limitless guidance and lessons on living a more spiritual life.

She combines her shamanic practice with the teachings of A Course in Miracles (ACIM). These teachings offer guidance on learning to let the Divine lead the way and the importance of forgiveness.

Elizabeth was fortunate to know her great-grandfather, a full-blooded Apache who raised her father, smuggled sugar and flour from Mexico into Texas, exchanged gunfire with Texas Rangers and crossed paths with Pancho Villa.

She is the author of the books Shaman Stone Soup, Dreams of Dying and Earth Sentinels.  To learn more about her stories, visit shamanelizabethherrera.com.

The host, Dr. Yomi Garnett, built his show’s platform on the teachings of his latest book, THE BISHOP’S TESTAMENT: A Novel On The Spiritual Basis Of Wisdom And Wealth Consciousness.

Here is a synopsis of what Thursday’s Show will be all about: “The three essential human requirements for happiness are something to do, something to love and something to hope for. And what is hope if not being able to see that there is light despite all the darkness. Hope is the pillar that sustainably holds up the world. We must insist on finding hope even in the darkest of days. Disappointment is finite. We must accept it. Hope, on the other hand, is infinite. We must never lose it. Ultimately, we must learn from yesterday, live for today and hope for tomorrow. It is only hope for a greater, and more compassionate tomorrow that can keep the universe viable. All spiritually-minded people must remain committed to helping to raise the energy of love on Earth, because all that is needed to improve the quality of life on earth is love. Our mission must be to continue to spread this love, as this is the only hope for the preservation of the sublime integrity of our Earth.”

Shaman Elizabeth Herrera’s newest novel is a daring adventure inspired by real-life events and indigenous wisdom–Press Release

Earth-Sentinels-Cover-kindleThe author, Shaman Elizabeth Herrera, incorporated some of her own experiences into the new novel Earth Sentinels: The Storm Creators, which features compelling characters, such as the fallen angel Bechard, shamans, spiritual beings and the earth’s creatures, who collaborate with supernatural powers to fight against greed, corruption and indifference, demanding that mankind changes its way…or else.

Her father was raised by her great-grandfather, who was a full-blooded Apache that smuggled sugar and flour from Mexico into Texas, exchanged gunfire with Texas Rangers and crossed paths with Pancho Villa.

One of the supernatural scenes that appears in Earth Sentinels was based on the time Elizabeth went to a tree farm. She explains, “While my husband and I walked through the rows of trees, I notice a sad, wilted tree lying on its side against a woodchip pile. I heard it whisper, ‘Help me.’ Since this was at the very beginning of my spiritual journey, I ignored the plea for help, thinking it was my imagination, but the next time I passed the tree, it called out again. I tried to ignore it, and the third time we walked near it, I actually avoided making eye contact. Funny! Right? Trying to avoid a tree,” Elizabeth muses. “Anyway, in Earth Sentinels I wrote about a tree that calls out for help because it is being killed by the chemicals that are being pumped into the land by the natural gas fracking process. Two of the main characters are brought together when they hear the tree’s pleas.” Elizabeth adds, “By the way, I did buy the real tree, which grew into a lovely specimen.

“There are other events from my life that are mixed into the story as well, such as the shamans talking to hurricanes and the totem animals that help to save the day. I believe we are all connected, which means we are all part of the problem and the solution.”

Laine Cunningham, award-winning author, stated, “This is one of those books that’s going to stand alongside classics. Drawing from Native American wisdom and the beliefs of a world filled with respect for nature and its spiritual elements, Herrera has created a global book of wisdom for a global world.”

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

July 17, 2014

What if it was much worse than you thought and the solution was beyond your wildest dreams?

  • Did you know that fracking is linked to earthquakes and is destroying our water supplies?1
  • Did you know that there is no safe way to mine, store, or process nuclear materials used in power plants?2
  • Did you know there have been over 270,000 suicides in India by farmers who used GMO seeds with devastating results?3,4
  • Did you know that the deforestation of the Amazon rainforest is altering our weather?5
  • Did you know there were at least 7,662 spills, blowouts, leaks and other mishaps in 2013 in 15 top US states for onshore oil and gas activity?6

Earth-Sentinels-Cover-kindleThe newly released novel, Earth Sentinels: The Storm Creators by Shaman Elizabeth Herrera is a “no-holds-barred piece of literary realism” that dives head first into the most pressing issues affecting our planet while at the same time instills hope and offers “a classic model of wisdom for living harmoniously on earth,” according to Mark Champion of OurHealingMatters.com, “On occasion, we all read a book that we know will mark the time of our age. Earth Sentinels’ message is every bit as telling and accurate as Animal Farm and Fahrenheit 451. It is a succulent portion of cold, hard truth played out with characters you share affinity with, understand and love.”

“This compelling adventure shows that our struggles around the world are connected and that ordinary people have the power to change the world for the better.” — Dr. Margaret Flowers, PopularResistance.org

Earth Sentinels begins with the fallen angel Bechard somberly observing the world being destroyed by mankind’s greed, corruption and indifference. Realizing drastic measures are needed, Bechard begins searching the globe for people who might join his quest to save the planet.

It doesn’t take long for the fallen angel to find 17-year-old Zachary, whose family’s organic farm is being ruined by fracking; Haruto, living in Fukushima, Japan, where the nuclear meltdown is raging out of control; Mahakanta, a cotton farmer in India, who used GMO seeds with devastating results; the Amazonian tribe members, Conchita and her father, Pahtia, fighting against intruders illegally tearing down their rainforest; and the Bear Claw First Nation Tribe who are dealing with an unstoppable oil spill that is ruining their traditional hunting grounds.

Intriguing blue doors and ethereal mists beckon the characters to the spirit realm where they finally meet the mastermind Bechard to form an alliance. Excitement builds when the world’s Governments are faced with the Earth Sentinels’ demands, sent on behalf of Mother Earth who cannot speak for herself. As events unfurl and countries retaliate, the readers ride a roller coaster through the supernatural!

Laine Cunningham, award-winning author, stated, “This is one of those books that’s going to stand alongside classics. Drawing from Native American wisdom and the beliefs of a world filled with respect for nature and its spiritual elements, Herrera has created a global book of wisdom for a global world.”

Book Reviewer, Merril Anil, Gives Novel “Earth Sentinels” Five Stars!

Earth Sentinels: The Storm Creators

Earth Sentinels: The Storm Creators

Rating: 5/5

Beautiful!

Earth Sentinels definitely stands out for the plot. The plot is fantastic and the way it has been treated makes for an interesting read. What I like about the treatment is the fact that the author has chopped the story into small blocks, so you are not caught up in too many intricacies and webs of the plot. You are able to move into the story gradually and fully involved, which I thought was a really clever narration. Had it not been for this level of narration, the reader would have gotten lost because there are so many characters and individual stories. It would have been difficult to catch up with each character.

The story moves at a great speed and the language is beautiful as well. While the first half introduces the entire characters, the second half is where the actual story comes into full bloom and does so pretty interestingly. In spite of telling a complex story, involving a lot of characters, I felt the author eased the readers into the plot very delicately and kept it intriguing.

I still don’t know how to describe the book. In spite of being filled with fantasy elements and mystical worlds, it is very much real and intertwined with the modern world. A great thought process is definitely visible in the story.

The book for one has a pretty unique and interesting storyline with a good technique in narration. It does not burden you with the plot and details. In fact, the author has made it quite an easy read with an intelligent treatment in my opinion. The book definitely makes for an interesting read.

Earth Sentinels — A Journey Through Self Discovery

Earth Sentinels: The Storm Creators

Earth Sentinels: The Storm Creators

When I write a story, my underlying motive is to learn and grow spiritually. My latest novel, Earth Sentinels: The Storm Creators, is no exception. Although the plot seems like a protest against the environmental assaults besieging our planet, it was written to help answer a strong, underlying question that kept nagging at me, If we are One, connected to every particle in the universe, how can we attack anyone or anything without attacking ourselves?

I went around in circles trying to figure out how to “save” the world without attacking myself, but I couldn’t find an acceptable solution. So, before I started writing, I set the intention that I would discover the answer by living vicariously through my book’s characters. In each chapter, I explored their anger at having their lives and way of life threatened and the land destroyed. I let them feel empowered and justified as they demanded that the world use only earth-friendly methods. And, as the events escalated and the world retaliated, I let them feel remorse, guilt and even more rage.

One of the conversations in the book that offered valuable insights was between the character, Haruto, who lives in Fukushima, Japan, and her spirit guides—three samurai soldiers, a crone and priestess. At this point in the story, she is talking with them while sitting around a firepit:

The priestess picked up a delicate, white smoking pipe with cherry blossoms painted on its bowl. She lit it with a twig plucked from the fire. After a few puffs, she passed it to Haruto who smoked it, then passed it to the samurai sitting next to her. As the pipe made its rounds, the crone spoke in a hoarse voice, “I believe you received an answer earlier today, one which you ignored.”

“You mean when I was told that the nuclear disaster was a reflection of my own mind?” Haruto asked.

The crone chortled, “You do remember!”

Haruto ignored the comment, instead appealing to the samurai soldiers, “You must understand the need to fight! You made warfare a sacred calling.”

The samurai in black armor answered, “In a sense, everything is spiritual. However, attack is always against yourself. Oft times, we must fight a battle, if only to learn to lay down our arms.”

The red-armored samurai piped in, “When you understand that fighting’s sole purpose is to preserve your own illusions, you will stop fighting.”

“What’s the point?” Haruto asked, exasperated.

“There is no point, except to learn there is no point,” the samurai in green offered.

I invite you take this marvelous journey and hope you find it as insightful (and fun) as I did.

Blessed journeys!

About the Presenter: Shaman Elizabeth Herrera is a healer and author who writes life-changing books. Her stories take you out of your comfort zone, causing you to dig deeper into your own thought processes, letting you move past the world’s clutter to listen your heart speak to you of truth, destiny, and most of all, love.

Elizabeth was raised in a Christian home, but lost her faith in her early twenties. For over a decade, she searched for something to fill the void and found Native American spirituality (shamanism). Through this practice, she unexpectedly became a catalyst for healing and miracles. These events led her back to a belief in a higher power. In 2008, she discovered A Course in Miracles, which perfectly complimented her shamanic path.

Elizabeth is the author of Shaman Stone Soup (memoir) and Dreams of Dying (visionary fiction). Her third book, Earth Sentinels (visionary fiction), releases this spring. For more information, visit ShamanElizabeth.com (healing website) or ShamanElizabethHerrera.com (author website).

How Much Does a Spirit Weigh?

spirit leaving bodyIn 1901, after numerous experiments on people and animals, Dr. Duncan MacDougall determined that the human spirit weighed an average of 21 grams and that dogs didn’t have spirits. However, his results were considered false due to flawed methodology. All subsequent experiments using better methods and equipment have shown the spirit doesn’t weigh anything, but references to his work continue to show up in popular culture, including Dan Brown’s novel The Lost Symbol.

One might say the experiment was doomed before it even began. The basic concept of a spirit is that it isn’t physical, and therefore would be weightless.

So what is a spirit? And, where does it reside within your body? The soon-to-be released book, Dreams of Dying, tries to answer this question through a fictional story. The main character, a mother, who loses her family in a tragic car accident, vacillate between two lives, before and after the accident. At this time, Jesus appears and begins to offer her unorthodox guidance—repeatedly emphasizing she is a spirit, not a body.

Dreams of Dying

Dreams of Dying

Dreams of Dying has a compelling part where Jesus asks the main character if she believes God is a spirit or body. She answers, “A spirit.” He responds, “…if God made you in his image, wouldn’t you also be a spirit?” and “If you are a spirit, how can you be a body?”

Of course, the character resists the statement: “…how can you be a body?” as most people would. The body is right in front of us. How can you NOT believe you’re a body? Jesus’ explanation cannot be understood in one concise sentence, so he takes the main character on a journey, answering questions, while repeating emphasizing there is no death, only dreams of dying. Click to Order Dreams of Dying.
